Day 1 Texas

An early start before a sprint o the airport in the already bustling LA traffic at 5-30am before a reasonable leisurely wait at LAX before an on-time flight across the lower continent to Houston, Texas.

Gary Davidson was there to meet us with a new vehicle and all. And before long we were Subway-ed up and heading north for our first birding rendezvous which was in WG Jones State Forest. Here we searched for and found the endangered Red-cockaded Woodpecker as well as a few other species. We saw our first Cardinals, Eastern Blue Birds, Carolina Wrens, Pine Warblers - to name a few.
