Texas Day 10

We left our hotel in Harlingen pretty early to rendezvous for a birding boat trip out of Port Isabel with a lady, Scarlet Coffey. Scarlet was friendly and enthusiastic - clearly a lover of all things natural. And she showed us our main target bird quite quickly which was the Mangrove form of the Yellow Warbler. I would have liked to stay there a bit longer to try to get a photo but it was not to be and we went off looking for other birds and, of course, her beloved Dolphins.

Next on the agenda was South Padre Island where the main attraction was the birding out of the Convention Centre. This area is fantastic; lots of wetland and coastal species plus quite a few trees and bushes make for quite a decent migrant trap.
